THE BASICS

name: Yoru [i dislike my given name and if i let you know it, it means i trust you or you have met me irl]
age: 29, but i apparently give off the impression I'm 22
gender: female
additional: Libra | Snake | Aspie | writer | INFJ-A

ocs: I've got lists of my OC army. Multiple. Lists. But I think the ones most people know are Guen/Wraith and Blue Lantern Nuriyah (DC), Arial Lavig/Kraken (Marvel), Yoru the Rogue and Cypress Heartsong (Wakfu), and Kui Yanyue (Avatar The Last Airbender)

fandoms: DC comics (especially the animated stuff), Fate/ universe, G Gundam, Avatar the Last Airbender, .hack//, Dream Eater Merry, The Phantom of the Opera, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, X-Men: Evolution, Wakfu, Steven Universe, Harry Potter, Thundercats (2011,) Final Fantasy, Elfquest, Zodiac Starforce, Tenchi Muyo, and several others I'll probably remember to add later. Also vicariously Star Trek and The Wheel of Time, thanks to my parents.

favourite musicians/musical artists: H.I.M., Halestorm, P!nk, Adam Lambert, Set It Off, In This Moment, Black Veil Brides, Jonathan Young, Eric Calderone, Caleb Hyles, Nightwish, blink-182, The Used, Mozart l'Opera Rock, Porcelain Black, Yuki Kajiura, Incubus, Voltaire, Faun, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lindsey Stirling, Britney Spears, The Black Mages, Escape The Fate, Eisbrecher, Pentatonix, Ke$ha, Taylor Davis, Muse, Within Temptation, Fall Out Boy, Sleeping With Sirens, Anthony Warlow, Gwen Stefani, Maroon 5, Arrows To Athens, Poets of the Fall, Oomph!, Mystery Skulls, Dragonforce, Weird Al Yankovic

writing influences: [good grief, remind me to fill this section out sometime when i've got them all figured out]

likes: writing, drawing, reading and collecting too many books, OCs, headcanons, SHIPPING, Coca-Cola, ice cream, polar bears, Skype calls, shenanigans, sarcasm, collecting things, soundtracks, reading the tags other people put on their stuff, aesthetic/mood boards, pie and cheesecake, making themed playlists, when people blend the sci-fi and fantasy genres together, breaking genre stereotypes, CANON-BLENDING, online shopping, making discussion journals, dark/gothic themes, Hot Topic, looking at the stamps on other people's dA profiles, cute animals, listening to music while i create

dislikes: tumblr-brand SJWs/divas, PEOPLE WHO USE THEIR DIAGNOSIS AS AN EXCUSE TO GET AWAY WITH SHITTY BEHAVIOR, tastelessly excessive gore, last-minute changes being thrown at me without warning, gatekeeper fans, close-minded people, being touched by strangers or being touched without my prior consent, emotional manipulation/being emotionally manipulated, being lied to repeatedly and still being expected to trust the person, cultural insensitivity, mouthy inconsiderates, being pressured to answer comments/replies/notes, having people make assumptions about and/or mock my beliefs or viewpoints instead of asking me to discuss them

triggers/phobias/major discomforts: dystopian thematics, zombies, excessive physical contact with others (yes, i have lowkey haphephobia,) anything where child abuse/torture/death is prominent [i also hate rats, but it's not really a phobia or anything]

ABOUT MY ACCOUNT

gallery: fanart. fanart everywhere for my various fandoms. my muse shifts between things constantly. you'll see a lot of DC stuff. and writing. you'll see a LOT of fanfiction.

statuses: mostly quick thoughts, often about characters or ideas that sit on my muse. sometimes used to give updates on my current situations IRL and/or to remind people about my streaming sessions.

journals: occasionally I'll give in-depth updates on things IRL. but expect a lot of tags and the occasional review, sometimes promoting or signal-boosting others. really, my journals that update writing statuses and my Let's Talk About... journals are the only interesting AND important ones.

commissions/trades/requests/gifts/etc: I don't think any of my art is good enough for me to demand payment, though i've considered possibly doing writing commissions. I don't do requests. gifts are made at my discretion, on my own time. trades are a by-the-individual sort of thing; ask me about them if you're really interested. collabs are a maybe, depending on the nature of the collab suggested.

WARNINGS

  • Multiple threads of conversation, especially when some of them are walls-o-text, tend to make me nervous and i get anxious trying to answer them. The more pressure I get to respond to something from someone, the more it ramps up my stress and anxiety. I'm easily guilted into answering those things faster, but my answers won't be as substantial or have as much heart, and I feel like forcing me to respond faster makes my responses disingenuous.
  • That being said, I sometimes answer walls-o-text with walls-o-text.
  • I have two part-time jobs and I work nearly every day in a week.
  • I am married and will often mention my husband-creature, as he's a very important part of my life.
  • If you have a problem with me or if i have hurt/upset/offended you in any way, please tell me. Speak to me honestly, be open about how you're feeling.
  • When I care about someone, when I have friends that I genuinely love and care for as family, I can get incredibly protective and intense about it. You mess with someone I care about or talk shit about them, I am going to get cold and hostile if you then try to cozy up to me. I won't tolerate that crap.
  • If swearing in casual conversation or during personal vents isn't something you're comfortable with, please tell me. The more comfortable I am around you and the more i trust you, the more liberally I will swear in conversation unless you explicitly ask me not to.
  • I do NOT always open up about how I am feeling or what I am going through. I've become more and more selective about who I trust with what information when I need to talk and I tend to not always say everything that's on my mind to everyone. Many people have grown angry with me for not choosing to disclose information to them; that makes me even more wary and less likely to trust them again in the future, so if I don't tell you everything that's going on, please understand that there are some personal things I think are best kept more private.
  • I rarely give out my Skype info but you're free to ask about it. I almost never give out my cell phone number.
  • Diagnosis of Asperger's Syndrome, high-functioning. Years of training have helped me to be very aware of social cues and I take a lot of notice if others are feeling a certain way (even if i can't always identify how they feel exactly.) However, I still can come across as detached or unsympathetic at times, and if I do, please don't be afraid to tell me; just remember I'm not perfect.
  • On the matter of being an Aspie, I also tend to get excessively hyper-focused on certain special interests or topics as a result, and if you're getting sick of me constantly focusing on the same thing then again, please don't be afraid to tell me.
  • If for some reason I need to take space and distance from others for the sake of self-care, I will usually do so without giving any sort of heads-up. If I need to self-care, I'm more likely to flat-out do it and apologize later for going radio silent instead of announcing that I need to do it. Announcing it usually makes me feel guilty, and that guilt is detrimental to self-care imho.

DETAILS

  • I write a lot, so don't be surprised if you ask what I'm up to and the answer is that I'm working on writing.
  • Usually get labeled the mom-friend or big sister-friend, so don't be surprised if I get attached and start acting like that.
  • I'll happily be a sounding board and brainstorming buddy for OCs/fic ideas/ship ideas/etc. [Be aware if it's for DC that I tend to be more critical and launch into critique mode right away; been in the fandom long enough for people call me a matriarch and my ever-growing wellspring of DC knowledge can be intimidating when tapped into. I don't do this to be rude; quite the opposite. I tend to be very passionate about DC OCs and want to see others create interesting, memorable characters.]
  • There's still a lot I have to learn about writing, but anything I know/learn/find I am more than willing to share with anyone else who wants to learn and has a passion for writing.
  • I will critique-review an OC's profile/bio or Beta-read for a fic, but please be very patient. I take a long time to do this because I like to be very thorough.
  • Talk headcanons with me. I'll never shut up and I'll turn into a hyperactive fangirl again, but it's always fun~.
  • I tend to throw a crapton of symbolism and personal stuff into the fics and characters I write, then sit back and see if anyone picks up on it.
  • Seriously if you read any number of my fanfics and talk to me about them, I'll probably never stop thanking you. It means the world to me when people like my writing enough to read a lot of it.
[EDIT 3/30/17] Added a few more things to likes and dislikes.
