Can we get an asbestos chessboard please?

Happy (belated) birthday, !!

For those of you who don't know what the hell is going on, she and I had been discussing via Notes our fangirl love for two of the best Big Bad Villains ever, Aku from Samurai Jack and Mumm-Ra from Thundercats. And I don't recall exactly off the top of my head HOW it came up, but we started giggling at the thought of Aku and Mumm-Ra playing chess together. Just because.

So that's what I decided to draw for her birthday. Because her birthday IRL wasn't all that great this year, I was hoping to draw something that would put a bit of a smile on her face. And then this came to mind.

This is actually the first time I've drawn Aku. His design is surprisingly simple, but man, the lines on him are sharp! D8 But that beard is so fabulous!! I had fun drawing it. The reason this was delayed was partially due to the fact that my drawing muse is finicky lately, but mostly because Mumm-Ra tends to be rather uncooperative when I try to draw him. (And he still came out looking grumpy, hence the dialogue I used for this joke.)
